Three Strand Twist Braid

Happy 4th of July! In honor of the festivities, I present you a tutorial for a three strand twist braid. It is put together looking, but quick, and gets your hair off your neck for maximum coolness.


To begin, make a side part. Twist the hair back from your face until you reach the outside corner of your eye. Secure with bobby pins.

Next, continue the twist until you reach the nape of your neck. This becomes the first strand of your three strands.

Strand 1 in hand, Strand 2 on left side of neck, Strand 3 on right side

Bring Strand 1 under strand 2.

Strand 2 on left, strand 1 on right

Now pick up strand three with your free hand and bring it over strand one.

Strand 2 on left, Strand 3 in middle, and Strand 1 on right (hidden)

Continue moving strands in the under/over pattern (Strand 2 moves under strand 3 taking middle position. Then strand 1 moves over strand 2 taking middle position) getting a spiral as you go down.

Fasten with a hair elastic and use bobby pins to secure loose spots. And you are all ready to go rock your pretty twist!
